Musical Theatre dance focuses on storytelling through movement. In this class, students will unlock creativity and intention within choreography. We will explore various styles within the Musical Theatre genre, using a wide range of songs from different musicals.
Beginning level of Hip Hop will teach you rhythm, beats, counts, and repetition to get you ready to take those skills to the next level in higher level Hip Hop classes. Hip Hop dance is a range of street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. It is influenced by a wide range of styles that were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. Wear sneakers/tennis shoes.
In Beginning/Intermediate Choreography there will still be some beginning choreography and beginning speeds/tempos, but there will also be some faster and more difficult components to challenge you and bring your dancing up a level. Wear tennis shoes.
Burlesque is a fun, sensual, diverse dance style. It has most commonly been known for being a comedic, cabaret-style performance. It is empowering, sexy, and versatile. This class uses elements of sensuality through movement inspired by Jazz, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, and Heels.
Pom dance is a fun, high-energy, dynamic dance style that incorporates elements of jazz and hip-hop, and is characterized by precise and synchronized movements. Dancers hold pom poms in their hands throughout the routine. Pom dance routines are often fast-paced and feature sharp movements, and sometimes kicks, leaps, turns, and jumps.
Jazz combines African and European dance styles and improvisation. It pairs animated expressions with sharp yet fluid motions, setting it apart from traditional styles of dance. It draws from technical influences from Ballet & Modern dance. You can wear jazz shoes, dance paws, tennis shoes, or be barefoot.
Reggaeton is a type of dance that began in Puerto Rico. It’s strongly influenced by Latin American, Caribbean, and hip hop music, and this fun, sexy, free-spirited style of dance is popular in nightclubs. It is a vibrant, energetic style incorporating influences from other genres like hip hop, salsa, and dancehall. You will learn to move your body more freely, let loose, and feel the music.
Salsa is a lively, energetic Latin dance that's characterized by its footwork, hip movements, and turns. Bachata is a social dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. Salsa Bachata styling refers to the art of incorporating graceful and expressive body movements, particularly in the arms and hips, while dancing both Salsa and Bachata, often with a focus on elegance and sensuality; it essentially means adding flair and personality to the basic steps of these Latin dance styles through controlled body isolations and fluid transitions. Best to wear shoes or heels with a suede bottom for easier movement. No partner needed.
Contemporary dance is a style of interpretive dance that embraces innovation, blending techniques from various genres, including classical ballet, jazz, modern dance, and lyrical dance. This class is normally and preferably danced barefoot - but students can also wear dance paws, jazz shoes, or tennis shoes.
